RIPENING
"Banana, abaca, seaweed, organic cotton, linen and hemp are combined in a harmonious blend"
RIPENING
In RIPENING Nevi Pana explores alternative methods for creating textiles through a technique which traditionally relies heavily on wool. By collaborating with the Textile Lab of Tilburg Textile Museum, Nevi Pana explores the possibilities of producing plant-based textiles using the same tools.
Banana, abaca, seaweed, organic cotton, linen and hemp are combined in a harmonious blend to create textiles that undergo a "ripening" process, transforming their colors, shifting from earth tones to vibrant yellows that correspond with the pollen of flowers and the life-giving power of the sun. The slow change hints at the presence of something alive, evoking a sense of a new beginning that gradually ripens.
